Haruka had it rough this week. She has been assigned to compose a song for Camus to perform at Shining Tower grand opening, and unfortunately for her, Camus is cold as ice and is kind of a jerk. Cecil in particular was concerned for Haruka because he is stuck living with Camus as his roommate, who had pestered him to act as his servant. The difference however is that Haruka accepted the condition act as his servant in hopes of being able to learn more about who is he is as an individual.

Frankly speaking, Camus kind of freaks me out. I have never been particularly fond of characters who plaster fake smiles to their faces when in reality they are typically mean and cold as ice. What struck me however is based on both Haruka’s and Cecil’s observation, Camus doesn’t do things earnestly. As result, Haruka wanted to compose a song in hopes of motivating Camus to perform sincerely. But even after she finally managed to compose the song, Camus continued to be a big jerk and only later surprised her (cue major eye roll) when he brought her along tot he Shining Tower opening, where there he performed her song.
Camus’ character however for most part, remains a mystery to me. There are aspects we have seen in the second season that we aren’t seeing as often in the present (third) season. Those dorky moments that makes him look like a crazy entertainer when he didn’t need to be puzzles me a bit when they tell me he isn’t supposed to be an earnest character- it might just be me though.
Yet despite him being the jerk of the week of Utapri, I have to say I really enjoyed his song. It was really good, except I just couldn’t get over the whole song sequences, it’s Utapri, it’s always going to be an extremely exaggerated version of Waltz Disney’s musical scenes. But hey, Haruka looked freaking gorgeous!!!

I am really liking Haruka being more involved in the recent episodes, it highlights more about what makes her a charming heroine. Although Camus asked of her to do crazy things, she still did it because she was determined to figure him out in order compose the perfect song for him. It shows her dedication as a composer, and as well of how she puts the puts the songs together. It was good to see her stand up to take care of things on her own, especially every single time Cecil tried to intervene after being ticked off with how she was being treated. Those little moments highlights her independence, which is often overshadowed by STARISH’s jobs in the entertainment field. Sometimes every now and then we would only get a 5 seconds or less glimpse of her working, so it’s always good to see her back in the spotlight where she too belongs.

Next week, if the pattern continues it will most likely be Tokiya’s and Masato’s turn! I wonder what kind of challenge will be in store for them!?
