Otoya and Natsuki are the first Cross Unit group to get a job. Shining has entrusted a Rock and Roll Musical project to participate in. Musical is called Two Princes: A String and Bow Concerto. The story revolves around two princes from opposing  Kingdom to stop the fighting with the power of music. Otoya was to act as a “Cool” Prince and Natsuki’s role was to be a Hot-Blooded Prince. It was a very interesting, not to mention different than what I had anticipated this Cross Unit to be. Shining had purposely threw them into situations where they must act differently from their usual selves. Both Otoya and Natsuki are bubbly people, and neither of them are “Cool” or quite “Hot-Blooded”, but much to my surprise, I felt I was able to see that today. When the two of them were troubled by the Director’s critiques, Haruka helped them out get an idea of what their color/charm is through sound. I felt after she had revealed it, the way the two of them interacted with each other afterwards showed us a different side of them. The way they were interacting sounded more mature, more serious- which is huge when these two as we know are extremely bubbly characters who can at times act childishly.

However the musical aspect, I couldn’t help but feel a little bit differently. The song was great, the composition had an enjoyable tunes, the lyrics were nice, but the voices… Now don’t get me wrong, individually I like them both (Natsuki’s in my top 3 favourites), but together they didn’t sound amazing to me. It sounded as if something was off. To me, it was as if their voices were clashing (which is a bit bizarre to say on the contrary of what the musical’s storyline was). Otoya’s and Natsuki’s voice actors have very different tones and sounds when they sing, and so there were parts of the song where I felt Natsuki’s voice was actually overpowering Otoya’s and at times didn’t mixed well. It was a strange feeling, but overall the song was still good and I enjoyed it.

Overall it was a good episode (way better than the last two that’s for sure). It was fun to see Otoya and Natsuki try to step out of their element and embrace that change/difference. Watching Otoya mimic Tokiya was funny to watch and Natsuki getting caught up in the horses cute eyes instead of Ryuyu-Sensei’s manly acting was as always, amusing. I have to say though that when Otoya acted “Cool” he charmed me because he really did look cool. I never really thought about what are my favourite character types before, but I guess that means I figured it out. I like cool characters, ahahaha.

With no preview to tease us who we will be seeing next week, I wonder who it will be! With Shining unique pairings for the Cross Unit Project, and seeing what kind of task Otoya and Natsuki had to face, I very curious to see whether or not it will become a running theme where Shining will be tossing them out of their comfort-zone. It also makes me wonder if there will be a viciously circle, where Shining will have Tokiya tap into Hayato again, considering Hayato’s character is polar opposite to the Tokiya we know. Other than that, the one Cross Unit group I am most curious about is Syo, Cecil and Ren due to their interesting combination of personalities.
