Remember when I said this show would do well if it touched on emotional issues related to the ghosts? Well, that’s what happened in this episode and it was fantastic. And I’m so glad it did, because this is what I was hoping for. Nothing wrong with comedy, but this type of show is asking for the feelsy episodes.

Everyday, Inoue has been making fried eggs for him, since it’s his favorite food, but no matter how many times she makes it, he calls it gross and tosses it aside. She tells this to her friends, with them wanting to help but being busy and not being able to. Of course except for Amami, who volunteers to help in her free time. They go to her house, where Amami makes the fried eggs. Inoue tries them and thinks they’re great, but her cousin still doesn’t think so and yells at her. Until then a ghost appears on the TV and plays out the well scene from The Ring. Which actually freaked me out, but was really funny.

Inoue and Amami go to a vending machine. Amami says she won’t give up no matter what, to which Inoue’s tsundere side shows up and basically tells Amami to butt out, it’s none of her business. And it hurt her feelings. I don’t hate Inoue, but I have a love-hate thing with tsunderes. They can be cute and funny, or they can be annoying and stupid. Inoue is more of the cute, but her lashing out at Amami was a bad move and kinda made me mad, but at least she apologized later on. And it was a sincere apology, not a tsundere apology.

Anyway, we learn that Inoue’s cousin’s dad died in a car accident, and he’s the one that cooked the fried eggs. And no matter who makes it, the cousin doesn’t like it because it’s not his dad’s. This is what her aunt tells Inoue in the hospital. Before going to the hospital, Inoue runs into Uehara, where she learns then that Amami’s mother died after giving birth to her, and realizes why Amami was so adamant about helping her cousin. Because she went through the same thing he’s going through.

During this time, Amami is researching different egg recipes. Inoue calls her to apologize, and so they head to Inoue’s place to try again. One thing Inoue’s aunt told her is that her uncle learned how to make fried eggs from her grandmother. With Amami around, you know where this is heading. At first, I thought they were going to talk to the ghost of the dead father, but instead, Amami speaks with Inoue’s grandmother’s ghost, since she’s always around Inoue. I thought the father because the reason why there are ghosts is because they either had a sudden death or they left something to be done. Dying in a car accident is sudden, so I thought, but instead it was the grandmother. Which I guess is fine since Inoue would later say how she feels bad she wasn’t able to learn how to cook when her grandmother was alive, so that gives a little more characterization to Inoue.

Amami gets the recipe from the grandmother, and they make fried eggs exactly like Inoue’s cousin likes. And he cries. Finally letting out the pain he kept bottled up. His mother said he never cried when his father died, because she’s about to have a baby, and he wants to be a brave and strong big brother. Which is touching, and it hurt to see him cry.

The next day, Inoue’s cousin leaves with her aunt when she’s finally had the baby. At school, Inoue and Amami gives each other’s numbers for their phone, and they become closer friends. Amami mentioned how the supernatural actually helped her create bonds, and we really saw that today with her and Inoue. It brought them a lot closer together, and Inoue was able to understand Amami better. Also, it looks like she completely accepts her sixth sense now. She never questioned her talking to her grandmother and writing down the recipe. So I’ll be happy to see their friendship blossom more. I’m also curious about something? I wonder if Amami has ever spoke with the ghost of her mother? I don’t know if she would still be hanging around after her death, but maybe that could be why Amami was never afraid of ghosts, and thinks of them creating bonds. Because the first ghost she ever saw was her mother, and she created a bond with her?

Maybe I shouldn’t think about that or else I’ll cry.

Also, she got her first cellphone ever. Look how happy she is!

It’s official. My favourite ghost is the one at the murder site. Putting pervert pussy cats, as well as tsundere cousins in their place since… episode 3. And dropping that insight on the cousin’s word choice too!

That advancement with Inoue accepting Ghosts more and them actually interacting with the main cast more! That was great! 😀 Cousin’s reaction was 10/10 better than any Shokugeki No Soma food induced faux-orgasm. The- the ghost eggs were a little unsettling though. I mean, it’s not like they’re being cooked alive since they’re ghosts, but I was taken aback.

Yes, don’t think about it. I managed to avoid tearing up as I was watching the episode because my mind kept on being impressed by the new little features and unexpected occurrences, but reading your review caused me to think about it all again and I teared up while I was reading your take on events. Well done :’)

Oh dear god how could I forget about those ghost eggs. I don’t know if Amami can communicate with dead chicks though, I thought the only animal she could talk to was cats. I’m just surprised Amami didn’t freak out, though maybe that’s happened to her before? And if so, that’s just too much.

HAHA BUT IT MAKES SENSE. AND IF I’M RIGHT, I’M GOING TO PUNCH A WALL. :’D

Yes, the cat is the biggest mystery in the series thus far and I’m glad he’s got something going for him other than the pervert personality, which is a whole other mystery in itself. Perhaps ghost animals are possible to speak with, but as for living animals it’s only cats? I’m sure we’ll get an episode highlighting Amami’s first experiences of various kinds with Ghosts!

Cracks some eggs! At least then you can restore the energy you burned up in your passion with some delicious fried eggs (and then totally not sob as you remember this episode)! :’)
