This is probably the most serious and intense racing video game I’ve ever seen, but I also said the same thing about the poker game with D’Arby Elder. I think this would be a challenge I would do better in, but I’d rather not. Kakyoin gets his time to shine after his long absence in a racing video game, where again like the other D’Arby, has to wager his soul.

[HorribleSubs] JoJo's Bizarre Adventure - Stardust Crusaders Egypt Arc - 40 [1080p].mkv0007D’Arby Younger, or Player or whatever, is seriously creepy. He acts like a gentleman and acts pretty normally, I guess like his older brother, but he’s seriously just so creepy.  He also places wagers and his Stand, Atum, also takes souls. But it’s not in poker chips like his brother. Instead, he makes dolls of the people and puts their souls into them. And they can actually talk. When opening up that cabinet, the dolls were screaming for help. And they’re ugly. I mean he could at least make them cute, but they’re hideous. D’Arby dresses them up, plays with them, and talks to them. Like honestly this fucker is the type of person your mom tells you to stay away from, he is just too much. Probably tied with Alessi for the most creepy. Yuck. What also sets him apart from his older brother is that he doesn’t lie or play tricks. He answers Joseph’s questions but keeps secret information hidden, so it looks like he won’t pull any fast ones.

The boys stuck with him are Jotaro, Joseph, and Kakyoin. They get pulled down into a dark hole in the ground, leaving Polnareff, Avdol, and Iggy behind. They come into some sort of illusion world. They’re on a small island, the sky is pink, and in the middle of the tiny island is a large table holding four TVs, a game console, four game controllers, and a pile of video games. Same deal, they have to play a game with him while wagering their soul. D’Arby picks Kakyoin to go first, and Kakyoin picks a racing game, and they begin.

Kakyoin specifically picked this game because he’s played the game before, and he’s confident in his skills. As we see, D’Arby really doesn’t pull any stunts, he’s just playing the game regularly just like Kakyoin, but sometimes using Atum to bash on the acceleration button to give him a boost. They both have the course memorized, so they know what they’re doing. Though D’Arby is pretty surprised at Kakyoin being so good and even has to yell at Joseph to shut the hell up from his narrating. In the end, the two almost reach the finish line, but we stop there, as Kakyoin is only slighty behind D’Arby’s car.

Kakyoin, we learn, wants to start anew, and redeem himself in a way. Meeting up with Dio, he was honestly so afraid. But he gave himself to him and let himself become controlled by that flesh bud. Embarrassed by his own weakness, and grateful for Jotaro saving him, he’s on this journey to face Dio again. But in the preview, it looked like Jotaro would play a baseball video game himself, so it looks like Kakyoin is going to lose and Jotaro is gonna have to save the day again, because there’s no way in hell Joseph knows how to play video games. Doesn’t this take place in the 80’s? Video games are pretty recent then, even though this car game is way too cool for its time. But please, don’t put Joseph in front of a video game. Make him play bingo or something.

D’Arby true name is Terrance T. D’Arby while his elder brother is Daniel J. D’Arby. I also prefer the title of D’Arby the Gamer to D’Arby the Player as it just rolls off the tongue better.

Ah, well that explains the TD earrings and on Atum. I wondered what his earrings stood for. Thanks for telling me that! They didn’t mention it in the show so I would have never known.

I only went with Player because that’s what the subs said but yeah Gamer sounds a lot better and makes more sense.

They actually do mention it. You can hear Terrance say his full name and his brothers name when he introduces himself. The Subs just say something different.

….oh my god that makes me feel stupid. :p I’d be less confused if I would read the manga, which I will sooner or later.
