And we are back to another episode of Yoru No Yatterman. Is this one better than the last one? Yeah. it is. But why? That’s what I’m here to tell you. So let’s just cut the intro stuff and jump right in.

So the episode starts off with the gang dancing around naked in front of a bunch of townspeople. Why? i’m actually baffled at this myself.

the townspeople seem a little too happy at the dancing until we find out that they’re really yatterman sent to capture the Doronbow.

Which…they surprisingly do. Yeah. They actually get captured and put in the paddy wagon.

However that leaves Aloutte and Gatchan free. Yep, you know where this is going. This is a “Rescue the main characters” episode.

So the two of them run from the Yatter soldiers and come upon a house. And in that house…I’m not even joking here, I don’t think I could make this shit up, they find…

The Mach 5. Yes. They find the speed racer car. I…I actually had to do a double take when I first saw this. and not only that, but the chimpanzee from Speed Racer shows up. and due to Aloutte being able to understand animals, they convince him to let them borrow the car to save their friends.

Yes, Gatchan takes the Mach 5 on a ride to save Doronbow. See. This is a good idea.

On the way we cut back to the gang being taken to what is apparently a high security prison. However, on the way being transported there Gatchan shows up in the Mach 5. (I can’t believe I just said that) and after a chase, end up catching up to them. Gatchan gets into a one on one fight with Goro, but unfortunately for goro he’s once again distracted by seeing Aloutte and gets knocked off the car.

Ball in a Cup! don't worry if you don't catch the ball, it will HIT GORO IN THE FACE!

Unfortunately Gatchan can’t stop the paddy wagon once he’s inside of it and it goes out of control and crashes into the reactor in the jail and blows it up.

They escape and the episode ends with them finally arriving at Yatterman Capital.

We're finally here!
We’re finally here!

And that’s where the episode ends.

So this episode was interesting. It hardly featured the  main cast at all and mainly focused on Gatchan. Which…was an interesting idea. They seem to want to give this guy development before this series comes to an end and….I’m not sure how I feel about that. This series is so short than I do want to see more development from Boyacky and Tonzra, but at the same time, I’m growing to like Gatchan. I guess i’ve just been worried this whole time about this show running out of episodes. It isn’t like other shows when I feel they have plenty of time to wrap stuff up. I feel this one has a pretty lofty and epic goal and to get this finished in 12-13 episodes seems like a pretty tall order.

But hey. There’s something I obviously have to talk about in this episode. Yeah. The Mach 5.

Seriously. Gatchan's driving the Mach 5. That's pretty badass.

I know that the same company that made Speed Racer made this show, but it’s just not something you expect to see. It would be like watching Code Geass and all of a sudden Chi from Chobits shows up. It just hits you out of left field. It makes sense eventually, but at first it makes you go “Buwahhhh?”

It was a cute homage and I enjoyed it immensely.

This episode had a few laughs, a few nice hat tips, as well as some much needed development for Gatchan. He’s finally coming in to his own and making his own decisions. Good on him.

With the series coming to a climax with them now getting to the capital I have to say I’m finding myself very interested in how they’re going to wrap this up. They only have 3-4 episodes to go. I really like these guys and I have to say i’m going to be sad to see them go. Oh well, I’ve got a few more episodes with them left. We still need them to reveal Goro’s true identity and them to meet the head of the Yatterman and bring back peace. Let’s do it!

Episode 7/10
