So where do we go from human intercourse? Straight into the fight against Gotou of course, the episode starts with Migi telling Shinichi that it’s time to run. They steal and a car and drive off. When did Migi learn to drive? Well, if he can learn Japanese in a day, driving is a lot easier so why the hell not right?
So they drive out of the city to a less populated area. They try a failed plan to cash their car into Gotou’s car, to be fair, it was a really good plan. Shame that it didn’t work.

Then the rest of the episode is a ride on the feels train. First, there’s the battle against Gotou and…Migi for best right arm ever! No, not even best right arm, best alien creature. Best friend! Their first plan to bring Gotou down fails and Migi, sacrifices himself so Shinichi can live.
This alien creature, who is always talking about how it’s survival is the most important thing. Sacrifices itself, so he can live. Not only that, but as Migi is dying, he thinks that he’s glad that he didn’t take over Shinichi’s brain. So they got to spend time together, got to grow together and become friends.

Shinichi runs off from the fight and ends up in the backyard of an old woman in the town nearby. The woman catches him in her backyard, the spot above his eyebrow bleeding from where Gotou cut him, she decides that he is not a burglar and brings him inside to patch him up.

A majority of the rest of the episode is Shinichi staying at her house and getting to know her, but there is one part where he resolves to go home and tell his Dad the truth about everything. About how he lost his right arm, what happened that night all that time ago, about his friend named Migi, who’s a real hero. STUPID FEELINGS, WHAT DID I TELL YOU ABOUT GETTING ALL UP IN MY ANIME. I’m not crying, you’re crying.

There is a sliver of hope, as Shinichi sleeps he sees a part of Migi still inside of him and he says that Migi is still alive and when he wakes up, he sees a little eye appear on his arm. Migi’s not totally gone, he’s not totally gone.

In the area, there was a murder and since Shinichi is an outsider, they look into him first but the guy who witnessed it bursts out into hysterics, screaming that it was a monster. A monster killed this guy, of course, Shinichi knows that it’s Gotou. The people go out and investigate and they recognize this, it’s just like the mincemeat murders.
So they decide to get a hunting team together to take down the monster.

Shinichi can’t stand for this, he knows if they go after Gotou, they’re going to die. Gotou is there because of him, he’s out to murder him. He knows, he has to go face Gotou if he wants to save their lives.
I love this old woman, I adore her, telling Shinichi to live for himself. Asking if he has someone to live for, but in the end, letting him go and take a weapon with him. Praying for his safety. She had a sharp tongue but in the end she really came to care about Shinichi, I really like her and I hope nothing bad happens to her. Series, seriously, don’t you DARE have her come out into the woods and get killed or something.

So, next episode. Armed with a rusty cleaver, Shinichi will face off with Gotou. Hopefully, Migi will grow back and save his ass. That’s what I hope for anyway, so far, a emotionally charged ending…let’s see how many MORE times i’ll have to pause the video and try not to sob before the journey is over.

I wonder if Migi is going to regenerate from his cells in Izumi’s body if he eats enough – surely his cells can serve as a back up memory, or he uses the untapped potential in Izumi’s brain for that?

Hive-Goutou seems capable enough of growing larger if he eats a lot, so perhaps Migi can on a smaller scale… that is if he DID die and didn’t just get absorbed by Hive-Goutou somehow.

I like how the feels train didn’t try to go slow and pace itself like a “proper” show normally would. In real life, life and death happen in various spans of time and it’s good for that reality to come through now and then if a character actually “has” to die.
