This week revolved around where Haruka is at in her progress to become a Princess. While Minami and Kirara already have ‘Princess’ aura around them, their peers perceive her as a bud, and I like that. I too consider Haruka as a small bud waiting to blossom into a beautiful flower. She has a lot of flaws, and she is working hard on addressing them. However while Haruka aspires to be the Princess from the story she loved when she was a child, I think somewhere down the line, Haruka will learn to appreciate her own unique qualities and flaws as an individual to become the princess she wants to be.
Prince Kanata revealed to us the main mission of the series. In order to return the dreams to the people of Hope Kingdom, the girls need to locate and retrieve the remaining nine out of twelve Dress Up Keys that had fled into their world when the Dys Dark invaded. Once they they have all twelve keys, only one person can then become the Grand Princess. Kanata however does not understand the motive and reasoning behind Dyspear’s invasion, so the reasoning behind stripping people of their dreams remains a mystery. He is frustrated how he wasn’t able to protect his people and is on the run within his own Kingdom, making it difficult for him to try and communicate with the royal fairies without being detected by Dyspear.
Due to those circumstances, we probably won’t hear too much from him. Now I don’t know about you, but they were killing my shipper heart with all the tease of Kanata x Haruka.

My shipper goggles are locked on tight and all I can see are the two exchanging lovey eyes of first love, and I can’t help but squeal about it. I mean come on, fated meeting of the Dress-Up key traveling across realms with little!Kanata following behind and meeting Haruka who was chosen by the key, I CAN’T!!!! I SHIP IT SO HARD!!!!!!! But alas! I must remove these shipping goggles, and avoid getting my hopes up for romance to blossom.
With the revelation of one of them becoming the Grand Princess, Haruka makes it her mission to inherit the role. I am excited to see how Haruka will grow, how she will overcome her struggles and see whether or not she will be chosen to fulfill the role. Right now, most of us know that it is bound to be Haruka – but the ultimate question is, when the moment comes, will she be chosen? Will there be a failure before she gains the role? I am curious to see if they will do something of the sort to make it more challenging. But perhaps the things she must go through will be just that. Next week certainly jumps onto that right away as Haruka is forced to be partnered up with a boy who had bullied her in the past. In order to blossom she must weather whatever the storm she faces. And I look forward to watching her grow into the Grand Princess she aspires to be.
I was pleased to see that the event with Miss Shamour was short and sweet. She is the royal instructor fairy (or something of the sort, since we know she can transform) who today started off with the lessons of Afternoon Tea. I don’t know how much we will see of her, but I do love her design. She is stored in this mirror/tablet thingy when she isn’t needed, so bizarre- it makes me think consider her like a genie in a lantern, except she doesn’t grant wishes. She is already thinks highly of Minami and Kirara, but considers Haruka the clumsiest one of all. I anticapte how she will help Haruka grow as a princess since while she may not be the star pupil, she is the most enthusiastic student of the group.
Dyspear’s character was revealed today, and HOLY SHIT. SHE LOOKS AMAZING. I AM IN LOVE WITH HER CHARACTER DESIGN! She looks so wicked and so intimdating, hands down best Precure Villain Character Design to date! I am curious to see what sort of abilities she possesses as she is able to simply detect Kanata attempting to make communications with his allies. Then there is Lock, whose design is also awesome. He piped my curiousity of how strong he actually is considering the girls didn’t sense his presence until he started making comments. On top of that, he brushed off their encounter as his form of greetings to them. Interestingly he too identified Haruka as a mere bud, so I love that the writers are already forming a pattern to identify her character growth.
Okay, what exactly is behind Dyspear’s mask? Who knows. But in the OP who are those new characters? They look so cute and drawn better than Haruka, Minami, and Kirara.
Right now the OP sequence contains footage promoting the next Precure All Star: Spring Carnival movie that casts all the Precures from the past and present series. This is why there is a variety of different styles of character designs.

Haru-Haru the Bud Princess, nah I really like that though. I’d love to see more on Ms Shamour as well and I have two words to describe Dyspear: too scary! The group transformation was pretty nice plus Lock was full of mysteries esp when teasing on Flora.
And that moment with Kanata… I just also wanna ship with Haru-Haru so much dammit. You see, my kokoro’s go doki doki already! Make it sail, haha!
Lock is indeed a mysterious character! Looking forward to learning more about him. Dyspear is AMAZING, her character design has such a presence, I’m in love. I like it when they make intimidating villains, it make them feel and look more powerful/threatening. Heehee.
AHOY SAILOR, SS Haruka x Kanata has already set upon sea! We must be prepared to weather whatever storms that crosses our path!
Nothing wrong with shipping, just remember that even with all the focus on love last season, we still haven’t had one of the main Precure (I have to say it that way because of Mirage) actually be in a relationship since Yes! Pretty Cure Five.
Anyway, even though no mention was made of additional perfumes, am I the only one who thinks that having 9 extra keys wandering around somewhere sounds like great justification to eventually have another Precure or two join the team?
I was still more than satisfied with what we go with Happiness Charge. XD It doesn’t have to be LOVEY DOVEY or end up canon, as long as the ship has fun and charming interactions, that’s more than enough for me. Shipping in general is just for fun, I can’t help myself!
I too considered the possibility about another precure joining the team. I wouldn’t mind it, but I would rather avoid the random out of blue precure that joins SUPER late in the series (I’m looking at you Cure Ace!). If they plan to add another member, I hope for a more natural and smoother transition than BAM, YOU hAVE A NEW FRIEND.
