Major props to the writing team for this great twist! No one expected Sawatari of all people to have Pendulum Cards of his own, (no thanks to the President of LDC… Reiji). It is hard to tell whether or not I would have enjoyed this duel as much as I do right now had they not done the Pendulum VS Pendulum match up, but let’s not think about that and focus on how great this episode was executed.
Yuuya’s self confidence has grown immensely since the first episode. We have seen him go up and down while practicing Pendulum Summon, and become upset with himself. This time, despite the fact that Sawatari/Reiji have successfully sealed his Pendulum Summoning and finds himself cornered, Yuuya feels excited. He is looking forward to how this duel will unfold, how he will overcome this wall and take that next step that may further evolve the Pendulum Summoning technique and will most definitely create a new way to entertain the crowd. Today, he immediately had suspicions that Sawatari had a Pendulum Monster. He set up the expectation that he did, so that when Sawatari revealed it, the shock didn’t affect him as much as it could have. Nevertheless, despite proceeding with cautions and waiting to see whether or not his suspicions were true, there were surprises that did catch him off-guard- namely the revelation that one can raise the scale from Level 1 to 5 to Level 1 to 11, raising new potentials for Pendulum Summonings. However once again, the credit doesn’t actually belong to Sawatari. It would be had he obtained these cards and learned on his own, but at the end of the day- it was Reiji who taught him, making the situation almost no different to their past duel.
I am looking forward to see how Yuuya will overcome this wall, and how much further he will evolve. To counter Sawatari’s  strategy that he had finally figured out (a little too late though), Yuuya is going to focus a lot on the Action Cards to help him turn the tables. Remember, not all Action Cards work to your benefit- unless the plot wants it to, but let’s hope there will be some flaws every now and then much like their first match if he does end up picking up a bunch of Action Cards as he goes around.
We and the characters all knew that it was only a matter of time before Pendulum Monsters would be distributed and the summoning technique would be learned by many others. However I suppose it isn’t too soon, given that Reiji has been working on unlocking their secrets and potentials since the moment he learned about the new summoning technique.
Be it Sawatari or Neo New Sawatari, his ego is so big that one cannot contain it. He will steal your lines and act like he owned it since forever. Though he is a dorky jerk, he can entertaining to watch, in particular when he surprises you or just acts like the fool he is. Oh, and I am willing to bet Sawatari was practicing this whole speech in front of the mirror. He is the type of character to do that.
Absolutely loved the new OP & ED, they are both so awesome. The ED definitely indicates that Yuuya and Yuuto are one and the same, but from different worlds. I don’t even want to think about the possibility that only one can exist in this world (Noooooooo! My heart wouldn’t be able to take it!). The OP on the other-hand, makes me very excited for what there is to come. BRING IN THE D-WHEELS!!!!! Also, Shun riding his monster like a boss FTW.
Oh and one last thing:

The duel is surprising entertaininh! I don’t remember the last time I had so much fun in Yuya’s duel!
First he summoned a monster with decent attack, decent attack increase and that has an effect that can be totally used to XYZ summin what with its level change.
His magicians and Odd-Eyes were shuffled back to his deck! I wouldn’t mind if he barely used Odd eyes, so other monsters on his deck gets a chance to shine too!
Sawatari had a fairly solid and meta play, and his antics were hilarious! I want that melody he was playing with the leaf, sounds good and cool.
But let’s be honest, Iam hyped to watch the next episode so she get q glimpse of Shun vs Sora which was confirmed to be the most batshit insane so far!
Reiji it has been a while since your last(and first) duel, for a rival you don’t act too rival-ish XD
The Op and Ed was cray cray, I can’t wait to see the White Totally Synchro Yuya appearing!

I am also hoping that he will find another monster to main other than Odd-Eyes, but then again looking back at the previous series, the protagonist ALWAYS uses their main monster 90% of the time. But doesn’t mean that they absolutely won’t have one or two alternatives mains. :3 So prayer circle for a new debut!!!!!!!

Actually, only Yuma abused his ace. Yugi/Atem had Dark Magician, Black Luster Soldier, Slifer, Buster Blade, Silent Knight/Magician. Judai in season 1 used a crapload of different fusion monsters and only got his definitive ace that is Fusion Fodder, so don’t even kbow if it counts. Yusei used his ace less than the other protags, he had Junk Warrior, Nitro Warrior and 2 other Synchros which ne I don’t rember right now. Heck the Mega-Cool dragon he summoned at the end didn’t even use Stardust as material!
Well, at least Yuya has Hammer Mamoth as an optional boss, so that’s something I guess >_>, gosh I wish Yuya got Entermates with decent stats, do you believe they nerfed Yuya’s cards?( I don’t even know how this is possible) and on the opposite spectrum Yuzu’s card get buffed hard on Real Life lol.
So what do you think would be a good animal for a new entermate?

I can only remember as far back to 5DS, so I wasn’t entirely sure what the situation was for Yugi/Atem and Judai (especially since I had only watched the 3rd season).
For now, it is still early in the game Yuuya, I mean there’s still 100+ episodes to go! XD. I think Yuuya is under different circumstances however due to Pendulum Summon being all new compared to the previous generations where the Summoning Techniques were already practiced and mostly universal. Perhaps this duel and/or the future duels will draw out a new alternatives that will allow Yuuya to switch it up. After all, Odd-Eyes Dragon and its Mega Evolutions can only entertain the crowd for so long on its own! Once the tricks get repetitive, it’s not as amazing anymore so he is going to have to switch it up!
          A new entermate/performpal… hmm… Maybe… a fox? ;’D

Sawatari has taken a level in competence. Before he had to have Reiji outright tell him during the duel itself what to do. Here he not only duels with none of that, but even uses the effects right. So he’s still taken a big level from the guy who talks big but can’t back it up.
