(sigh) well I guess it had to happen sooner or later. Every episode of this show had been pretty damn good, so I guess it’s only fair to run across this show’s “not so good” episode. Danna had one, tribe cool had one, denki had one, I guess it was only fair for this show to have one too. So what was so bad about it? Here. I’ll tell you.

The episode started off with enough promise. Seiya’s basically going around the park showing how much of a bamf he is. From solving problems involving food nearly immediately

to creating new maps for the park, to freaking judo chopping security tv’s so they work ala the Fonz style.

Eventually after all of this, Seiya gets tired and heads back to his office, asked…..gun…chick..(crap what’s her name? senta maybe?) if she can handle the rest.

Unfortunately his break is cut short as the fairy girls tell him they want to show him something. He follows them as they show him how gun girl treats the rest of the cast. and let me just say, it’s not good.

Yes..um...does this place have an HR department?

Seiya is disgusted by this and tells her that she sucks and is basically dead weight. For the first time, we actually see an emotion elicited from her, and I was like HOLY CRAP!

Holy crap! Emotion!
Holy crap! Emotion!

Oh yeah. and also Latifah and Seiya go in a ferris wheel and we learn that Seiya has a terrible fear of heights.

Dude! Tell her you love her! She wants the D!

This is where the episode stops being good. Up until this point I was really enjoying the episode. Then it starts to fall apart.

It starts to rain very heavy and there’s a danger of the park being flooded. And then for once, Seiya has no idea what to do. However gun girl jumps in and saves the day knowing what to do.

I'm on a phone! I can do things!

And of course the park is saved and now he realizes they need her and blah blah blah.

She then gives exposition on how her family is from the military and she had pressure put on her and blah blah don’t care end of episode.

Really, this episode bugged me. The first half of the episode was fantastic. It showed more of Seiya’s ability to adapt and do what needed to be done. It also dealt with him telling gun bitch that she sucked and I liked that. It was a good start up to character development and I wanted to see her hold onto this throughout the rest of the series having to prove herself.

And then it got resolved by the end of the episode.

It seemed INCREDIBLY rushed how they took her from angsty person who had to look deep inside herself to savior. It was literally less than 10 minutes.

hooray we can't pace for shit in this episode!
Hooray we can’t pace for shit in this episode!

I would have liked this gun chick character a lot more if she was forced to look inside of herself and develop over a much longer period of time having to gain back the trust of everyone in the park. Not just fucking 10 minutes where everything is hunky dory again.

And… I know this is a weird side note, but i’ve never come across a show where (except for maybe Eiken) I said to myself, “Why are those chick’s boobs so big? It doesn’t fit”.  The gun chick really has huge boobs and…it’s kind of distracting. For the character she’s trying to play the boobs really take away from it. I don’t know.. I feel like that kind of character she be more modestly sized. Weird to mention I know, but it’s a nitpick that’s been bothering me. Like her design is off.

Seiya was so amazing in the first part of the episode and then once it rained he was like “DUUHHH WHAT ME DO IN RAIN?” and he went from this strong character who knew what to do in every situation to  confused dumb ass because it was raining. This felt out of character and it bothered me.

Anyway, I hope the next episode is better. This one, while having a good start forcefed me development about her character in a terrible way that I didn’t want. Honestly all I wanted was to see more about saving the park. I do not give a single crap about gun girl’s backstory. I really really don’t.

Episode 5/10.
