Zankyou no Terror episodes 6 and 7, the airport arc or how I learned i hated Five.

I don’t think i can stress that last bit enough. I HATE HER, GOD I HATE HER AND HER STUPID PURPLE MAKE UP WEARING FACE! FUCKING LOOK AT THIS SMUG ASS BITCH. SHE MAKES MY BLOOD BOIL JUST FROM THE WAY SHE’S DESIGNED MUCH LESS THE WAY SHE ACTS WHICH IS LIKE A FUCKING CHILD!
I’ll get more into that later, let’s talk about the contents of the episodes before we listen to my opinion on them.

The first thing we see in the episode is the damage to Nine’s back from the explosion in the last episode, while these burns look really nasty I have to say he got off pretty damn lucky. He could of died.

Five sends out a message supposedly from Sphinx but it sort of lacks their usual flare. Shibazaki is immediately doubtful of it’s authenticity, however, it threatens a certain place. This place, being an airport. Full of people, have I mentioned that I hate her yet? Because every action she takes…

Shibazaki not really onboard with the idea that this is really Sphinx, goes to investigate himself despite orders to stay at the police station. I also forgive all these other cops that were dicks to him a few episodes back for taking his side now. This is a great moment, as they all walk up and tell him that he doesn’t have to play ‘Lone Wolf’ anymore. They all pile into a car and head to the airport to defuse the bomb.

Twelve and Nine know they have to go and stop this. They can’t let her stain their reputation with thousands of innocent lives. So despite the fact they are perfectly aware they are set to get captured. They decide this needs to be stopped.
Not without a little help from Lisa though, who finally officially signs on as a “Terrorist who has spent the last two to three episodes defusing bombs so nobody will die.”

They arrive at the airport and the next clue shows itself, the next clue being that Five has turned the entire airport into a chess board so she can play a game with Nine. A game with thousands of lives at stake…the game is, he reaches checkmate and he finds the bomb and gets to defuse it.

Twelve and Nine split up and we move into episode seven.  The chess game continues, as Twelve moves through the place hiding in the blind spots of all the security camera’s. He escapes and gets in contact with Nine, it’s time to bring in Sphinx number 3.
It’s Lisa’s job to create a distraction. She goes into the girls bathroom and sets of two flares to set off the smoke detector. At the same time, Twelve switches out the security camera footage putting a five minute delay on it.

Everything comes to a head, Shibazaki and the other cops show up at the airport. They’re met with resistance from other cops, this tips them off that it may of been the police that set the bomb and not Sphinx.

Five notices the delay and something else on the camera’s. This something else she notices is Lisa and she orders her men to capture Lisa. As a result of the delay she runs out of her van to find Nine standing there with a gun pointed at her. As much as I don’t want him to become a murderer, I would really not care if he killed her. They exchange a brief dialogue before a bunch of cops shoot at him and he runs away.

This leads to probably one of the most…interesting, moments of this series as Shibazaki and Nine run past one another. These are two people, both working to save lives however, one of them is a cop and one of them is a terrorist who while he hasn’t killed anyone has blown up two buildings.

Lisa calls Twelve and tells him she’s trapped on a plane, with the bomb and the bomb and the plane are being auto piloted to slam right into the airport. There is only one way to save everyone and save Lisa, Nine calls up Shibazaki and tells him that to save people. He needs to go into the control tower and turn the plane around. He also does in fact confirm that the bomb is not in fact theirs but the polices.

“So we have mutual interest.”

It’s so interesting to look at that line and put it in perspective with what I just said. Shibazaki and the other cops storm the control tower and are nearly stopped by another group of cops. With the help of that cop I hated before, Shibazaki breaks through and threatens the guy controlling the plane to turn it around.

FIVE LOOKS SO PISSED! IT’S FANTASTIC! She threatens to make him regret it. I can’t wait to see her get what she deserves in the end of all of this. Twelve and Nine save Lisa and in a wonderful moment once again, in which in his Sphinx mask. Nine leans out of the car and salutes Shibazaki.

These episodes were beautiful! It really put the show into a wonderful perspective and showed what kind of people Nine and Twelve actually are. It’s interesting to see such parallels between Shibazaki and Nine. Five is very childish and hates to lose, I was having a discussion about what characters from other shows I would most compare her to with a friend of mine. The combination I thought fit best included Mello and Light from Death Note. Light in her childish nature in which she hates to lose and Mello in her drive to make the ends justify the means. While separately I love both of these characters, I can’t stand Five!  Anyone who holds a airport up threatening thousands of innocent human lives for a game makes me sick to my stomach.
Once again, I am the most interested in the institution that raised them considering they are all such different people. We’re they truly shaped by how the world treated them after escaping that place? What’s the meaning of Nine’s dream in which we see her burn? How did she survive? How does she really feel about Nine?
In my honest opinion, she loves him in a strange and twisted way. She calls him ‘Nine’ through the entire encounter however she just calls Twelve ‘Target B’. As if she isn’t interested in him at all. Once she discovers Lisa’s involvement she immediately almost kills her rather then capturing her and turning her in to the police. As if she’s jealous of Nine making friends with a girl. This look she has at the end of episode six, it seems to reflect some kind of obsession in a sense.

Anyway, I look forward to where this is going. Only time will tell.
