Illya 7 Img021It’s a self-proclaimed power struggle between Ilya and Kuro in this light-hearted transition episode! We all know who’s really in control of things though – with Kiritsugu presumably still away, Iri will be sitting comfortably behind her “god wall” for some time yet. The patriarchy has never been strong within Prisma Illya’s version of the Einzbern household, but then again that’s primarily because we’ve only really seen Shirou – and this incarnation of Shirou is about as flimsy as he gets. I was actually a bit surprised he took a long enough break from being comic slapstick relief to say a few mildly serious words on cooking – I’m glad they kept that aspect of his character in, by the way. With Sella and Leysritt (or just Sella, rather) around to do the housework, there wouldn’t be much left of Shirou without his cooking! Also, onii-chan rewarded Ilya with a kiss~ Why won’t Miyu do something like that ;_;

Illya 7 Img031I could have sworn that, for a couple of moments the competitive dynamic between Ilya and Kuro was almost like the one between Rin and Luvia – the latter pair aren’t actually sisters, but it’s the same sort of thing. I did appreciate the shameless shout-outs to various characters across Type-Moon history, from Kohaku to the Mahoyo version of Aozaki Touko! For some reason, I do see Ilya as the older sister despite Kuro having technically been born first – I feel like Ilya’s “lived” through more, if you know what I mean. Of course, you can just as easily make the argument that Kuro’s seen it all too, but it’s never been first-hand for her – nor will I be so quick as to call it actual “living”. In the end, despite cake baking competitions (the outcome of which I’m sure was not entirely Tatsuko’s fault) and strange hairdos, Kuro does care for Ilya, even though she might find it a bit hard to express it sometimes. I was actually expecting a long yuri kiss at the end, but I guess I was hoping for too much. For now. It will happen -no, it must happen- and it will be glorious!

You know what else will be glorious? Bazett finally arriving to rain down lots of destruction. Looks like that beach trip will have to wait…

    That tends to be the general conclusion most of us have reached as well. Illya’s the onee-san of the pair (although I could argue that there are times when both of them could use a REAL older sister to rein them both in, but oh well).

    Incest? Twincest? Selfcest? Never quite sure what to call Illya and Kuro’s “mana replenishment sessions.” Anyway… I would hope that we’d get far enough to see one of my favorites, but the chapter in question wouldn’t really be the strongest note to end on, so I don’t know if we will.

      I’m sure Iri can be their older sister!

      Forget thinking about what to call them, I’m glad they’re even happening – and that they’re regular occurrences! Also, are you saying we won’t be getting through the whole of 2wei, even if the adaptation goes on for multiple cours?

        If it goes multiple cours we’ll get through it fine, but as of yet nobody’s talking about this being more than another ten-episode run.
