Brynhildr in the Darkness ep 6: crazy scientist boyfriendo-san

 

This show is getting dumb why should I care-

Crazy scientist boyfriend! Welp guys it looks like we’re in for the long haul this series is obviously good and should be forgiven for all of it’s flaws. Speaking of flaws this episode started of with the obvious KOTORI WASN’T EVIL and CAPTURING KIKAKO and bullshit stuff so idk what you want from me. I called it all last episode

huh There’s a gradient in an episode that isn’t just used to cover boobies!

Breathes deeply, think of the hot scientist crazy guy, do it…..*breathes deeply*.

Long story short Kikako has a lag time for her mouth canons so they play dodge and go, Kotori is kind of whining about stuff and then uses her teleport to actually save them. They defeat Kotori with logic again and everyone is like oooooh yeaaah we won but Kotori is too busy angsting and wants to die.

Basically her friend gave up their last pills in order to let her reach her birthday- she doesn’t want to take anyone’s life anymore so she refuses to take the pills they’re offering her.

I have to admit this show knows how to wear on my nerves. A lot of times it has the power to give us an emotional ploy, and fails. If anything I feel it’s good to compare to Black Bullet. Black Bullet has a very poignant and saddening recurring story element but when I see it in play, I cry. I don’t feel like it’s just bullshit. Here? I feel like it’s bullshit. I get it. They’ll die without the pills. And it’s really fucking boring.

Half the time I feel like the plot element is a crutch. The author wants to torture it’s character so they created a cheap reactionary issue and just re use it over and over. It’s not engaging. It’s not moving. I’m not feeling for them. I’m not excited for Ryota to realize Kuroha IS Kuroneko, I’m not excited for all of them to ‘get away’. I’m watching in utter disinterest.

The most interesting thing about this show is the witches who aren’t main characters and scientist guy. And maybe white haired guy. I’m moderately interested in the potential eldritch abominations, but other than that I feel no real pleasure watching the show. We’ll see how the doctor can solve their pill problem and maybe take the edge off this HGHGNGNGGH bullshit.

I have higher hopes from this point on- now all the main characters are established and we might actually learn some things and stop just re using the same old plot elements. Please?
