Black Bullet ep 8: you’re only gonna break break my heart

To begin this episode EVERYONE IS GOING TO FUCKING DIE.

But no seriously one of the Monolith’s have been destroyed. Seitenshi visits Rentaro and Kisara who are trying to teach some of the outer area Cursed Children and reveals this to them- in 6 days the Monolith will be gone and in the time it will take to build a new one, all of the citizens of Tokyo will die or become Gastrea.

Seitenshi orders Rentaro to become the head officer of a civil agent group in order to protect the city for three days before the new Monolith can be completed, but in the mean time Rentaro is left to consider the trauma this will cause to the city around him.

Most of this episode is Rentaro bonding with Tina, which makes me worried as fuck since everytime he gets close to a Cursed Child we get shown shit like how long Enju has before she becomes a Gastrea and other fucking depressing shit. WHY DO YOU HATE ME SHOW. DON’T DO THIS TO ME TINA ALMOST JUST DIED ARE YOU TRYING TO KILL ME.

As Tina and Rentaro spend the day bonding they come across a Cursed Child who is in the Mall begging. Her eyes are covered so Rentaro asks why. She responds that she poured led into them because her mother hated her eyes- the same mother that abandoned her. A couple of guys throw a bottle top into her bowl and she can’t see so she gets excited. Wow. I just. The way this fucking world treats these poor little girls. I JUST CAN’T OKAY.

Rentaro gives her a decent sum of money and asks her not to come back for awhile, likely because a prominent anti Cursed Child figure was murdered recently.

They head to recruit other members of a team and one of them is Katagiri- who is hoooooot. Well, TAMAKI is hot, his little sister is ten so the amount of shits I can give are very limited. But let me tell you how many shits I give about Tamaki.

Anyway, Tamaki and Yuzuki fight Tina and Rentaro- and of course Rentaro and Tina win. Tina hasn’t been nerfed since becoming Rentaro’s team mate so she wins pretty easily and earns Yuzuki’s affection. Er. . . .apparently Yuzuki’s not into an older guy for once and instead wants Tina to marry her. Go figure. At least Rentaro finally has some team members- but all I feel is dread because THIS EPISODE JUST IS NOT SHOWING ME NICE THINGS IN THE BRAIN. Let’s. . . let’s just pretend things will be fine until next week, okay?

    Well… yeah. Enju, Tina, Kisara, Seitenshi… everyone except Rentaro who gets to be the audience stand-in figure who becomes emotionally broken after horrible shit happens to all the people he loves. It’s inevitable. I’ve concluded that the author is a hardcore sadist. They aren’t happy unless their readers/viewers are suffering. The more of us whose hearts get ripped out and ground into the dirt as characters die, the happier the author becomes.

    Oh, and all the girls in that school/class/thing that Rentaro and Kisara are running? They’re all going to die too. This show’s true and only purpose is to place a cute thing in front of you, and then brutalize, mutilate, and horrifically murder it in the worst ways possible.

        I’m just guessing, but I bet it will happen. I haven’t read the novels or anything. I just get the really strong impresson from the show and discussions around it that the author puts cute things in hopeful situations and then destroys them as part of the whole “humans are the real monsters” theme he/she/it seems to be going for.
