Toaru Hikuushi e no Koiuta Ep 7: Selfless Sacrifice
From start to finish- heck, even now as I write this entry I am still shaking, I was holding my breath the entire time, worrying about the fate of the students. This week’s episode was only the beginning, as next week’s is going to be hell.
And I can’t. I just can’t. I freaking knew it. I knew at least one of them were going to die and it ends up being Mitsuo who selflessly saved Chiharu’s life by serving as the decoy while she is ejected from the plane. And my god, I thought she was going to be shot down in the most brutal way possible, but luckily for her, Mr. Bandereas and Ms. Sonia were able managed to retrieve her just on time. That would have been an utterly depressing death otherwise. It was driving me up the wall how they were dragging it on ever so slowly, to the extent it was so painful for me to watch. It was dreadful and all I wanted was them to get it done and over-with because my heart simply can’t take it. But I am so proud of the two of them. They made a very difficult and selfless decision together to shoot the flares that would reveal both theirs’ and the enemies’ location. That takes a lot of courage. But most of all I am proud of Mitsuo. He served as a true pilot till the very end.
While the other students were ordered to recon, Kal-El, Claire, Airi, Ignacio, Wolf and Macro are ordered excluded from the their class’ mission to provide AA support over Centezual. But everything was completely thrown out of whack as Claire and Ignacio were withdrawn from the group. If that wasn’t bad enough, Kal-El then declares that they should get up and fight to defend Isla aka defy their orders. He is definitely going to regret his decision as Airi appears to be critically wounded in the preview as she had been shot in at least the arm. Not working with their original partners is definitely going to cause some problems with Airi and Kal-El while they fight because they have been working in separate teams up till now.
It was no surprise to see that Ignacio turned out to be her bodyguard. It is something that I’m sure a lot of us suspected over the past few episodes, especially when Claire was caught up in the storm with Kal-El. But that said, I do consider this a good thing in this situation as Claire is sick and tired of being used as a “figurehead”. Supporting as a representative while her friends risk their lives in battle leaves a bitter taste in her mouth. She trained alongside with them, so she too can be useful and is willing to put her life on the line. I am sure Ignacio will help her sneak out- or heck, they might be forced to move if the the Sky Clan forces end up bombing Isla (which they certainly will, as their forces are heading straight for Isla)
In the mean time, the Noble Class is being the arrogant little shits they are and Fausto obviously came up with stupid plan. Either he intends to use the Commoners Class, or take advantage of this grim situation to try and bask themselves in glory. I honestly expect the later because they are a bunch of idiots. I seriously don’t like Fausto, he is nothing but trouble. Hopefully reality will hit them soon to remind them that no one has time to act petty. The sooner they suck up their pride, the better because it will most likely save more lives as oppose to losing many lives. Oh and perhaps maybe actually use their head properly? But I wouldn’t hold my breath for that to happen just yet, let alone anytime soon.
The Sky Clan is definitely not a clan that should be underestimated. They are far from barbarians as they have monstrous, advance military devices of their own (not to mention, overwhelming in numbers). From large scale bombers to carriers, this is no small army. I swear to god the top dogs of Isla’s Military is filled with a bunch of idiots (except for Luis because he is the one who said they shouldn’t underestimate their enemy). But more importantly, that enormous island the Sky Clan has! IT IS MASSIVE. Hell I can’t call it an island, it is a motherfucking fortress! It makes Isla look like a shrimp when you compare their proportions.
Buckle up, because this is going to be an intense ride from here-on out.
