High School DxD NEW Episode 1 [First Impression]
Synopsis: Second season of High School DxD. Issei Hyodo is your average perverted high school student whose one wish in life is to have his own harem, but he’s got to be one of the unluckiest guys around. He goes on his first date with a girl only to get brutally attacked and killed when it turns out the girl is really a vicious fallen angel. To top it all off, he’s later reincarnated as a devil by his gorgeous senpai who tells him that she is also a devil and now his master! One thing’s for sure, his peaceful days are over. In a battle between devils and angels, who will win?
It’s back! And it’s better than ever… or so it would seem. Rias is back in all her naked chested glory, Asia is also back with her jealous tendencies and pert chest, Akeno is back, seductive gazes aplenty, Koneko is back in true flat chested form and hey, even Kiba is back and he’s moodier than ever! Fan girls scream! I’ll be honest, I’ve been missing the only ecchi series I’ve ever watched, it holds a special place in my heart and is one of the only shows that can make me laugh continuously throughout its 25 minute run… and by that I mean I’m in it for the plot… plot… plot…
Let’s just get this out of the way for the 90% of you who are here for the boobs; High School DxD NEW has plenty. And now that you now that you are free to vacate this post, purchase the next 20 pack of lube bottles and lock the bedroom door. That is all. Admittedly however, episode 1 of High School DxD NEW didn’t have that many boob shots… and I was surprised. Hell, even the opening has lost it’s boob appeal… That aside, there are still boobs for all of you ecchi lovers to drool over so… yeah, I’m just saying. I think it only appropriate that the episode began with Issei waking up to Rias’ boobs… it only made sense to do it that way, y’know? And I’ll be the first to admit that I laughed way too loudly when Asia didn’t “want to be left out!”.
Rias is much more forward this season (if that’s even possible) and I think that is, in part, to deal with the dealings that occurred in the final episode of the first season. Rias is in love with Issei and she’s willing to get naked for him every night and every day! Woo! Even Akeno’s getting in there, openly admitting/subtly hinting at her love for Issei… I see an impending bitch fight breaking out for Issei’s affections? I wouldn’t mind that at all, hell, it would give me even more of an excuse to say I’m watching it ‘for the plot’.
I think it’s good that Issei’s ‘Boosted Gear’ hasn’t been forgotten about, not that it would have been forgotten about, but I mean the affects and consequences of him possessing the Boosted Gear… that being said, the fact that to deal with it all Akeno has to do is suck out the badness… yeah… I’m not complaining. Who knows? Maybe the Boosted Gear will never cause Issei an issue again… then again, if they ever run out of plot and fear they have too much boob (too much boob?! How can you ever have too much boob?!), they can just throw in an episode or two about Issei’s Boosted Gear causing him trouble and the trials and tribulations everyone must go through to help Issei master his Boosted Gear… then again, they can always get make an episode or two about Rias’ boobs… I don’t think anyone would complain… what? The people watching for the plot would complain? Don’t make me laugh.
Okay, okay, I know I’m being too harsh on the plot viewers (haha) and I should give them a break…
(they should give their dicks a break before the friction burns start scarring). Kiba did actually bring some kinda of plot into episode 1 by becoming the dark and dramatic cliche that all the fan girls wanted him to be… yay for originality! Kiba ‘dark’ past is finally catching up to him and the machinations of his mind are finally being set into play with the reappearance of ‘Excalibur’ in his life. Whilst I can see a potentially interesting story arc coming out of this, I can’t help but think that they’re using this as another excuse to introduce more girls into Issei’s harem… I now have even more reason to believe this after they revealed that Issei’s childhood brofriend is and was actually a girl (they pulled a Boku wa Tomodachi ga Sukunai on us guys!). If done right this could be an interesting story arc that gives Kiba depth, Rias’s breasts more time in the sunlight/moonlight and Issei’s hard on a fresh filling of blood… the latter statement actually kind of sickens me when I look at it again…
Oh! And another thing… did anyone else think that ‘TNK’ did a pretty good job with the animation in this episode? I thought it was pretty darn good… oh! And another thing! Why are they still carrying on with that ‘Demon Contract’ B.S. We all know that Issei will most likely never be good at it so… y’know? I guess I understand of course, I mean, it would kinda ruin the flow of the plot if they just stopped and I guess it wouldn’t make sense (not that this anime makes sense in the first place…). OH! And another thing… the OST is still meh.
To conclude! BOOBS! Ehem, I mean, episode 1 of High School DxD NEW provides a thrilling and seductive episode full of intricate plot points, a critical and implicit analysis of the human form, a detailed and engrossing portrayal of male conflict from within and the witty, lighthearted journey of six friends in their attempt (and by ‘their’ I mean Issei’s) to form the worlds greatest harem! Yes, this is Highschool DxD and if you loved the first series you’re going to love this one. If you didn’t love the first series however… I don’t even know why you’re here to be honest. Thanks for the view anyway!
