Ginga Kikoutai Majestic Prince Episode 5: What it takes to be a Leader
“Making decisions, never giving up and believing in their comrades.”
If there’s one thing we know about the Wulguru enemy, is that they are typically one step ahead- including their technology. While Team Rabbit may have been successful today, what Izuru saw afterwards definitely implies perhaps it was all a test- especially if the security measures were all charged by technology alone (thus preventing living losses) just to observe their “Trump Card” being their brand new AHSMB suits.
Today Izuru was inspired and decides to go and talk to Randy for some advice on how to be a hero. While Randy was silly and not being serious for most part, he did point out the three key things that makes a hero/leader: Making decisions, never giving up and believing in their comrades. Those three points is what made them accomplish their mission in the first place as their bomb had gotten damaged and Izuru decided to make decisions and put his trust into Ataru’s abilities to fix it while he serves as the decoy and Kei serves as Ataru’s shield. It was also fortunate on their part that Tamaki’s Rose 3 could not fit into the entrance as she was the one to pull them out of the blast when they had got caught into it.
On the otherhand we didn’t see Toshikazu play a big role in this mission. He volunteered to stay back with Tamaki so that she wouldn’t be on her on and will have back up ready in case she needs it. His poor stomach is really neglecting him- and we know its his nerves and unsettling feeling that is making him feel sick. I suppose he will either overcome it but calming himself or find stronger medication- or he will have to cope with it forever (which will probably be the latter).
It was really no surprise of what Randy had given to Izuru and his team to watch claiming it was footage that had something to do with their previous missions was actually porn. I found it absolutely hilarious how Tamaki was so innocent despite the fact that she desires to fall in love and didn’t have a clue what was going on and that Ataru who is always up to flirting with the ladies was too embarrassed to watch it. Kei on the otherhand was just furious and stormed out leaving only Izuru and Toshikazu to watch it.
Team Doberman is a goofy team. While they are strong pilots, they unfortunately also have a nickname of their own, “The Bummer Three”. They are pretty easy for Team Rabbit to get along with so that’s good considering they have been eaten alive by the public. They are definitely a good senior team for Team Rabbit to be partnered with, so I do hope to see more of their co-operations.
Finally, last but not least there was one new character that we had gotten a glimpse of, saying that they may be entering the scene earlier than they anticipated. We don’t know who they are, what role they play but it might have to do with Team Rabbits ‘poor records’ where as making this new character will enter the scene sooner. However with the success of today’s mission, who knows- maybe they will be pushed back again.
Overall the episode was fine, nothing all spectucular, bt I really did enjoy the comedy bits and Izuru’s resolve and trust in his comrades. Looking forward to next week as it appears they will be graduating. I expect things after that to get a bit more dramatic.
