Sukitte Iinayo Ep 12 Img0016
FIERCE!

Megumi finally overcomes her fears about the public’s opinion and learns to have faith in friendship again. During the second half Mei goes to the shrine festival with Yamato and the gang.

Impression:
Aww what a sweet episode. I especially loved the second half…mainly because of the fireworks/RUNS AWAY.
WHAT? DON’T LOOK AT ME LIKE THAT! I CAN’T HELP IT! They were AWESOME. I don’t have much memories about fireworks in Animes, but I find this one will be a memorable one because they did a great job with the sound effects. The details of the fireworks was also really pretty to watch. Put the two together and it actually felt like you were watching the real deal. /DUCKS Another thing I enjoyed was the insert song! *O* I hope this will be included in the OST.
Sukitte Iinayo Ep 12 Img0006I am glad that Megumi has finally cast aside her false nature and has someone to believe in, and most importantly have faith in herself again. We learned this episode that Momo has been by Megumi’s side for quite a while and has always supported her. It’s good that Megumi was able to acknowledge the fact that there are people who genuinely care about her. When we get to see her true nature, she’s actually pretty cool, and her new haircut only makes her look even more so- not to mention she is actually genuinely a NICE PERSON, WHICH IS GOOD, VERY GOOD. Just in one episode she managed to become likeable.
Sukitte Iinayo Ep 12 Img0036The only thing that kind of bothered me (ONLY A LITTLE BIT) this episode was how out of blue the whole memory lane of Mei’s father and it being related to the festival. We were hinted very briefly last week, but it was extremely vague. I wish that they had a better build up to explain Mei’s feelings besides the fact that for the first time in a long time she has someone to go with to the festival and has a reason to dress up.
Speaking of Mei being dressed up: Oh she was so pretty! I love her hair up like that, and as per usual- Yamato’s reaction was super adorable. Their meeting at the shrine was nice and simple. Nothing was over the top, and it was a bliss.

Considering with how things wrapped up today, despite the fact I have always been aware this was going to be 13 episodes, I’m surprised that they are even bothering to do that. I think it would have been a good wrap up as it is with this episode alone. I don’t have a clue what they plan for us next week (Yamato apparently is sick?), but if anything- it’s most likely going to be major fluff.
After experiencing the horrors of the train wreck episode from Kamisama Hajimemashita, I decided to hold back from going ahead and rereading Sukitte Iinayo manga again. I have heard how badly this show had been adapted as well, and honestly speaking I think it’s better off that I have no recollection of the material. It is one less thing to be angry about and it lets me rate this show from a new viewer’s perspective. Only one more week to go, and then once it’s done and over with, I’ll be more than happy to begin my re-reading session.
PS: Megumi x Kai – I SHIP IT.

Megumi X Kai is the token “I hate/love you” relationship and it is adorable O.o

I agree. This anime is complete fluff for me. I enjoy watching it but it’s certainly not the highlight of my anime queue.
