A story that starts with a girl named Ohana who claims her life is boring and would like to have more drama in it. Before she realizes it, her mother decides to elope with her boyfriend and sends Ohana to move to Kissuiso where her grandmother, whom she had never met before works.

Story & Plot: 10/10
The special thing about this story is that there’s a sense of realism, strong developments and heartwarming. One may think that it’d be boring to watch the characters work in Kissuiso, but really it goes much further than that. It’s not just about them working there, it’s about following or finding their dreams and passions, and creating an unbreakable bond with one another. There was not one episode put to waste which played a key role that maintained the quality of this story.
Characters & Development: 10/10
It’s rare to give a perfect mark for characters and development. The reason why I gave this a 100% was simply because the development was so well done, my opinion on the character changed as I gradually got to know them and see another side of them. Take Takako for example. I couldn’t stand her in the beginning, but then everything changed when we dug deeper into her character and her relationship with Enishi.
Animation Quality: 9.5/10
9.5, yeah I did that.
The animation was almost flawless. It was just breathtaking. The amount of details, crystal clear gloss and just- wow. The landscapes are definitely my favorite part just because it’s so stunning. Honestly god, this anime was like- MOVIE QUALITY. I’m not kidding. It’s so top notched, you wouldn’t believe just how well they kept it up through all 26 episodes!!!!
OST: 9/10
I was never fond of the first opening song, I grew to like the second one, and the EDs, I always liked them. The OST was just stunning, especially in the last episode. I’ll be sure to get my hands on it if I can.
Recommendation:
Hanasaku Iroha is a pure masterpiece from start to finish. Even if you aren’t particularly fond of Slice of Life, you are in for a surprise. I suggest you watch this because there’s a warmth in this anime that makes you feel closer to the characters and not just that, but grow attached for Kissuiso itself.
Will I watch it again?
YOU CAN COUNT ON IT.
