Jintan decides that he will try going to school again. While he does make it, he finds himself not in the center of attention as how he mentally prepared himself to be. Instead, the word that Anaru was seen in front of a Love Hotel with an older man got around and she has been called to the office. As the rumors flies between whether she gets paid to have sex and will do anyone, Anaru quietly breaks down as humilation continues to topple down on her in class. Jintan, having realized her distressed state decides to put himself into the unwanted spotlight in order to divert the attention from Anaru get people to shut the fuck up. After making his outburst, Anaru drags him (in the middle of class) out and they skip for the rest of the day. They go over to Poppo’s place/ their Club House where Anaru declares she’ll be crashing there for a bit, not wanting to confront her mother and afraid how she’ll react. In the mean time while she cleans up the place, Poppo suggests maybe they should visit Menma’s house (despite having never been there before) in hope they can maybe find something that could give them a hint about her wish. They go in and pray for Menma before her mother shows them her now empty room. She reveals that she had kept Menma’s stuff and gave them her diary.
In the mean time, while Yukiatsu and Tsuruko head home. When Yukiatsu remarks about receiving a text to visit Menma’s house it leads to a memory where they both realize that there were somethings left unsaid after Tsuruko had corrected Yukiatsu by explaining it was Menma was the one who called them to the club house in the first place, and caught them both off guard.

Impression:
GAHHHH NO NO NO! NOT THE CLIFFHANGER!!!! Oh man, what a way to end the episode!!!
So Yukiatsu and Tsuruko remembered something crucial involving the day Menma died which may be the key to reveal Menma’s wish. What we learned from those two that Menma called them altogether so that she can tell them something, but she was never able to do so. If that’s the case, then perhaps that’s her wish, but the problem would be how will she remember it? Thanks to her mother, the diary may come in handy to help remember whatever she may have forgotten.
I’m very pleased with the pace and the current development. It was so proud of Jintan when he realized that Anaru
was suffering and actually breaking down, feeling absolutely humiliated that she was caught in front of a Love Hotel when she was actually dragged their in the first place. Jintan’s outburst was so awesome that he really deserves a pat on the back for putting himself in the spotlight to drop the curtains for Anaru’s drama.
Speaking of Anaru, I felt absolutely terrible for her during that scene. Also I wonder if she ever made it home to confront her mother. She’s staying at their clubhouse for the night, so… yeah. Well when Jintan walked in, that was pretty funny, especially since the misunderstanding why his nose was bleeding in the first place.
Finally, about Menma. While I do understand that she wants her mother to ‘forget her’ so that she wouldn’t feel ‘pained’ by it, and it’s terribly depressing. This is another reason I’m loving Jintan’s character this episode because he finally spoken up, telling Menma it’s okay and that she should think for herself for an exchange besides other people.

    Man, this episode is upping the ante and isn’t going to let up any time soon. That’s what I love from an anime series, one where you can’t wait until the next episode comes out. Sometimes I wish I never picked this series up yet. I’d wait until it was completely over if I could.
    Either way, it’s an amazing show and it’s got some great character progression going on. It’s not sudden but it feels right and you can tell that’s it’s right about time that all the characters start changing. Jinta’s change is probably the most realistic, he’s been struggling with going to school for a long time. On the other hand, Yukiatsu just suddenly became normal.

      XD I don’t it’s rather too sudden about Yukiatsu being “normal”, but we are just seeing another side of him. He’s still jealous about Jintan and envies I suppose you can say, his ‘Leadership’ qualities. Either way, one way or another what’s going on makes it looks like he’s pulling the group back together.
      But yeah omg, this show is too amazing. I can’t get enough of it!!!! ;A;

    I am totally in love with Jintan right now. If he hadn’t spoken up when he did, I would have burst into tears along with poor Anaru. Such an emotional scene. This was a really great episode- maybe my favorite since episode one.

      Yeah that was badass of him. I mean how many people in the world are actually WILLING to put themselves back into the spotlight to divert the attention? Jintan has proven to be the most impressive and respectful character this season.
